I understand that many lipsticks contain lead which could lead to cancer in people using them , is this right?

I recently had an e mail suggesting that all of the top branded lipsticks contained lead and this has been confirmed to be true by numerous universities, It sounded interesting so I thought people should know !I understand that many lipsticks contain lead which could lead to cancer in people using them , is this right?
A study by US consumer group Campaign For Safe Cosmetics, in October 2007 found 60 percent of lipsticks tested contained traceable amounts of lead. The levels of lead varied from 0.03 to 0.65 parts per million. One third of the lipsticks containing lead exceeded the 0.1ppm limit set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for lead in candy.

Lead poisoning (also known as saturnism, plumbism, or painter's colic) is a medical condition caused by increased levels of the metal lead in the blood. Lead may cause irreversible neurological damage as well as renal disease, cardiovascular effects, and reproductive toxicity.I understand that many lipsticks contain lead which could lead to cancer in people using them , is this right?
This is a hoax put about by nasty people who want us to believe that modern products cause cancer. See this FAQ page of Cancer Research UK:

Lead causes problems with haemoglobin metabolism not cancer and there are strict controls in the UK and other countries in its use in cosmetics and other products
lead doesnt cause cancer

when i get one of 'those' type e-mails, my first thoguht is to check 'snopes' ( http://www.snopes.com ) the urban legend people, to see if there is any truth

99% of forwarded e-mail warnings are untrue rubbish

{edit} sure enough it's in snopes

I have heard that too but I if your concerned about it just use natural products. I use natural lip balms on the basis that a lot of sticks use ground up fish scales to make it shiny. I just stick to Berts beewax products.
