What does it mean when a lipstick has a pearl finish as opposed to a cream finish?

I get the cream part, but not so much on the pearl

The pearl finish lipsticks will have a hint of shimmer in them and they can be more moisturizing, but they won't last long because of the oils and the glossiness of them. A cream lipstick has better chance of lasting longer, especially when you apply a small amount of pressed powder on your lips before applying lipstick. What does it mean when a lipstick has a pearl finish as opposed to a cream finish?
Normally pearl finish would have a bit of frost, whereas cream would be a thicker, more opaque color. But it doesn't come out with these lipsticks. They're all very dry.
